As strawberry season begins to come to and end we are savouring every last bit of it with this Strawberries and Brie Grilled Cheese. Melty, creamy brie cheese paired with the perfectly sweet strawberry preserves and fresh strawberries. It’s a sweet and savoury combo that can’t be beat!
This recipe was developed by our resident foodie and butter tart pusher, Lauren. She no longer works at Murphy’s, but we’re still enjoying her DELICIOUS recipe! Thanks Lauren!
1 slices of Murphy’s Rustic White Bread
1 TBSP of Butter
2 tsp of sugar
2 TBSP of Strawberry Preserves
2 oz of brie cheese, rind removed
1 handful of Fresh Murphy’s Strawberries
Prep the bread: Spread the butter on one side of each piece of bread. Sprinkle 1 tsp of sugar on the buttered side of the bread. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Place the first slice of bread butter side down in the skillet
Prep the ingredients: Wash and thinly slice enough strawberries to cover your slice of bread. Remove the rind from the brie and cut into thin slices.
Stack the ingredients: Spread a layer of strawberry jam on one piece of bread. Layer pieces of brie cheese then fresh strawberries the top with the last piece of bread, butter side up.
Grill: Cook each side for 3 minutes until golden brown and cheese is melty. Remove to a plate and slice down the middle with a serrated knife.
- For another added flavour try adding basil and drizzling with a sweet balsamic reduction
- Try changing the fruit with whatever is in season! This recipe pairs well with apples or even blueberries!
