Shop With A Cop 2019

UPDATE: On December 7, 2019, we were thrilled to be a part of the annual “Shop with a Cop” event hosted by the Nottawasaga OPP. Twenty-one local deserving students were selected by their principals to take part in this heart-warming event that left us all feeling festive! Students and officers began their morning with a warm breakfast generously donated by McDonald’s and set off for a fun morning shopping at Walmart for their families and themselves. They were then bussed to the police station where they wrapped the gifts and enjoyed a Christmas movie and pizza lunch donated by Domino’s Alliston.
This incredible event is made possible because of all of you and our extremely giving community! Throughout the fall we collected donations at the market through different fundraising efforts and we are so grateful that we were able to support even more students this year. We even had a VERY generous anonymous donor give $1000 so that we could buy each child a $50 FreshCo gift card for their holiday dinner! What an absolutely perfect day it was. Thank you so much to everyone who made this day possible. We are already looking forward to next year! @ Walmart Canada

We have partnered with the Nottawasaga OPP for their 3rd annual “Shop With a Cop” Day event!
We love our community and the families that live here and support us and we are thrilled at the chance to be able to give back during this special time of year.
PLUS if you’ve ever been on the farm during the holidays you know our love for Christmas is strong….  so it was a perfect fit!

About the Program
Shop with a Cop is a community policing initiative that pairs fifth-grade students from schools in New Tecumseth with a police officer for a fun day of holiday shopping, wrapping and Christmas cheer.

How the Students Are Chosen
Officers make their way to all the schools and meet with the principals and teachers to let them know that they are looking for students who they feel will benefit most from this experience. It will be up to the individual school to select the participating student(s).

Why “Shop With A Cop”?
This program promotes a healthy relationship between young children and officers. Children often never get the chance to connect with the local OPP and it’s a great opportunity for them to build a relationship with each other in a positive way!

Fundraising Goals
We would like to support every school in New Tecumseth. Our goal is to have one student from each school for a total of 18 kids. We know that New Tecumseth schools are FULL of deserving kids and would love to be able to have even more students participate in the upcoming years!

How Are We Raising Money?
We have been collecting donations since the summer for our event with a donation bin in the Market. We have also donated numerous pumpkins to local businesses who are more than happy to donate to our Shop With a Cop program in exchange.
Additionally, we reach out to our amazing local businesses who are eager at the chance to come together and support this fantastic event.

Our Sponsor Partners
It really does take a village. We are so grateful for the support of fellow local businesses who have donated their time, products or fees to make sure these deserving kids have a great day out! It’s humbling to have everyone come together with our fundraising efforts and we look forward to our future growth.
A huge thanks to the generous residents and businesses of our community in contributing to our event. Without your help, this wonderful day would never have been possible.
