Knead to Know with Hollis – June 8
We have THE most exciting news to share with you today! We welcomed the newest addition to the Murphy family this past week and are absolutely overjoyed.
Calder and Stephanie welcomed sweet baby boy Eldon Matthew Martin Murphy on June 3rd, weighing 9lbs 7oz and 21.5” tall. Older brother Fionn and big sister Kinley are also very excited to have this adorable baby join their family. All the cousins are equally excited and will be jostling to get in line to hold him.
We have officially now reached one dozen grand babies in the Murphy family. One dozen little humans, the sixth generation to be raised on our farm, whom are often found running about, shouting and fancy free. Free-range parenting (and grand parenting!) at its best.
One of the things I felt sad about when I decided our family was complete with four little ones, was that I wouldn’t have the joy/challenge of naming another baby. I was that girl in high school that had a notebook with ideas and amongst the ideas was a list of baby names. Anytime I encountered a name I liked, I added it to the list. As time went on, I upgraded to a note in my phone and kept the list growing. I found it one of the hardest things as a parent-to-be to choose a name, but also one of the most fun. Name ideas truly come from everywhere! In fact, there is a great little story of the name of the newest arrival.
It was the day before Christmas Eve, last year and Stephanie was helping customers at our dessert pick up window. A gentleman came to the window to pick up a sticky toffee pudding for Eldon and Stephanie was instantly inspired to add the name to her own baby list. Low and behold a baby boy arrived and that was the name at the top of the list! And so, the teeniest member of the Murphy family is actually named after a sweet customer. Eldon, if you are reading this, you are a namesake and didn’t even know it!
We cannot wait to watch our little Eldon grow and join in all the fun at the farm. Congrats to Calder, Stephanie, Fionn and Kinley! We love him so much already!
